A new record has been set by a
participant in the New York City Marathon. Jimmy Jenson is the first person
with Down syndrome to cross the finish line, the Today Show reports.
The 48-year-old from Los Angeles completed the race along side his close friend, Jennifer Davis. The two met 12 years prior through a program called Best Buddies that connects those with intellectual disabilities with those without.
After completing the marathon in just over eight hours, Jenson stayed at the finish line to encourage runners behind him to not give up and to finish the race.
